President Droupadi Murmu has approved the 23rd Law Commission of India, which will function from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2027. The commission will be led by a full-time Chairperson and include four full-time members, with the Secretary of the Department of Legal Affairs and the Secretary of the Legislative Department serving as ex-officio members. Additionally, there will be up to five part-time members. The commission’s role will be to review and recommend legal reforms to enhance the Indian legal system.
