Surat is a city blending tradition with modernity, processing 90% of the world’s diamonds and leading India in synthetic fabric production, contributing over 40% of the nation's output. As part of Prime Minister Modi's Developed India@2047 campaign, Surat will play a key role in improving India’s global economic status by 2047 through better infrastructure and industrial growth. Ramesh Vaghasia of the SGCCI highlighted Surat’s selection as one of four model cities for this ambitious plan.
