The State Bank of India (SBI) plans to open 600 new branches across India this financial year to access new business opportunities, particularly in large residential complexes with limited banking services. Chairman C S Setty stated that the expansion will target underserved areas to enhance banking access. In addition to branches, SBI operates 65,000 ATMs and 85,000 business correspondents, serving around 500 million customers. The bank is focused on customer satisfaction and is innovating its banking solutions, especially for deposits.
