ISRO's EOS-08 Begins Operations: Monitors Sahara Desert and Pacific Ocean"

Days after its launch, Earth Observation Satellite-08 (EOS-08) has begun its science operations. Using its GNSS-Reflectometry (GNSS-R) instrument, it captured high-resolution soil moisture data over the Sahara Desert and ocean data over the Pacific Ocean, including wind speed and wave height. The National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) in Hyderabad is processing this data with advanced algorithms from the Space Applications Centre (SAC) in Ahmedabad. GNSS-R employs signals from satellites like GPS and NavIC for remote sensing.
