Captain Gopichand Thotakura made history as the first Indian to tour the edge of space aboard Blue Origin's crewed flight mission. Hailing from Vijayawada, Thotakura follows in the footsteps of Rakesh Sharma, who flew on Russia's Soyuz T-11 spacecraft in 1984. The 11-minute flight, which also included passengers like 90-year-old Ed Dwight, launched from Blue Origin's Launch Site One in West Texas. This mission marked the seventh human flight by Jeff Bezos' company.
