Air India is setting up a flying school in Amravati, Maharashtra, to tackle an expected pilot shortage. The academy plans to train up to 180 pilots annually, offering a direct path to becoming Air India pilots for aspiring candidates with no prior flying experience. Reports indicate Air India has selected around thirty single-engine and four multi-engine aircraft from American and European manufacturers for its training fleet. The move aims to reduce the reliance on costly overseas pilot training, which currently accounts for over 40% of students.
